Kaladiri, Bumiofinavandu – Kepala Bandar Udara Nabire, Setyadi Mahendra mengatakan, pengoperasian Bandara Baru Douw Aturure di Karadiri, Distrik Wanggar – Papua Tengah, segera dilakukan dalam waktu dekat. Hanya saja, ada kendala lain yang saat ini sedang diselesaikan yaitu pengaspalan jalan masuk ke bandara dari jalan Trans Nabire – Wanggar.
“Sebetulnya harus secepatnya dioperasikan, hanya saja dari kesiapan kami masih ada satu dan hal lain, kalau soal administrasi semua sudah kelar. kendala lain adalah jalan masuk masih yang sedang dalam tahap pengerjaan alias belum rampung aspalnya,” kata Setyadi Mahendra usai mengikuti peresmian Bandara melalui videotron di Bandara Baru Nabire, Kamis (23/11/2023).
Disinggung soal alih fungsi bandara lama di dalam Kota Nabire, jelas Setyadi, onoff. Artinya ketika bandara baru sudah dioperasikan maka otomatis off, juga bandara lama tergantung kewenangan pemerintah.
“Kita system on off, kalau sudah buka di sini, di sana otomatis off, kalau difungsikan bandara lama) tergantung pemerintah pusat,” jelas Setyadi Mahendra.
Bandara baru menurut Setyadi Mahendra, masih didarati oleh pesawat jenis ATR, artinya sama seperti saat di bandara lama. Sementara panjang bandara secara keseluruhan nantinya mencapai 2600 meter. Sehingga, untuk sisanya akan dikerjakan namun pihaknya belum bisa memastikan.
Sedangkan untuk sisi keselamatan antara bandara lama dan bandara baru, bandara baru lebih nyaman. Sebab bandara lama berada di tengah kota dan dikelilingi perumahan penduduk.
“Sisanya ini pasti diselesaikan, tapi kami belum tahu kapan dikerjakan. Ini tinya tunggu pusat. Lalu dari sisi keselamatan, bandara baru lebih aman. Semoga segera kita operasikan, moga-moga ini jadi hadiah Natal dan Tahun baru,” pungkasnya.
Sebagaimana diketahui, Presiden Joko Widodo, meresmikan operasional Bandara Siboru di Fakfak, Papua Barat, dan Bandara Douw Aturure di Nabire, Papua Tengah, pada Kamis (23/11).
Di Fakfak, Jokowi meresmikan langsung Bandara Siboru. Presiden didampingi Menteri Sekretaris Negara Pratikno, Menteri Perhubungan Budi Karya Sumadi, beserta sejumlah pejabat daerah setempat dan meresmikan langsung. Sementara di Bandara Douw Aturure, disiarkan langsung melalui videotron yang di hadiri pejabat Provinsi Papua Tengah, Kepala Bandara Nabire beserta jajarannya, dan Kadis Perhubungan Papua Tengah.[*]
