Dogiyai gelar upacara Taptu dan Pawai Obor, Rabu (16/08/2023). – Bumiofinavandu/ISTIMEWA.

Nabire, Bumiofinavandu –  Pemerintah Kabupaten (Pemkab) beserta jajanan TNI Polri di Dogiyai Dogiyai, Papua Tengah, menggelar Upacara Penetapan Waktu (Taptu) dan pawai obor pada Rabu (16/08/2023) petang. Taptu dan pawai obor digelar dalam rangka menyambut HUT ke-78 RI Tahun 2023.

Upacara Taptu dilaksanakan di lapangan apel Mapolres Dogiyai, dihadiri  Pj Sekda Damiana Tekege, Kapolres Kompol Sarraju, dengan peserta upacara yang terdiri dari satu SST Satgas 527 Lumajang, satu SST Brimob Yon C, Satu SST Satgas Damai Cartens, satu SST Polres Dogiyai, satu SST Satpol PP, pelajar SMA dan SMP.

Walaupun dalam suasana hujan rintik, peserta sangat antusias dengan membawa obor menempuh 7 kilometer perjalanan selama hampir sejam lamanya.

Dengan menyusuri Jalan Poros Nabire Enaro lalu memasuki Komplek pemukiman hingga finis di Kantor Bupati sekitar pukul 19.00 WIT.

Sejarah Taptu di Indonesia

Menjelang perayaan HUT RI, sudah sejak lama Indonesia memiliki tradisi dengan menggelar upacara Taptu dan renungan suci. Hal tersebut merupakan rangkaian tradisi kegiatan nasional yang dilaksanakan di seluruh daerah di di Indonesia. Kegiatan ini berlangsung pada tanggal 16 Agustus sore atau malam hari.

Namun tak banyak orang di Indonesia yang mengetahui asal muasal kata “taptu” dan sejarah tradisi yang bernuansa patriotisme dengan kegiatan pawai obor.

Taptu biasanya diikuti oleh berbagai unsur. Mulai dari Polri, TNI, Pejabat, Pegawai Negeri Sipil (PNS) maupun perusahaan, organisasi masyarakat, pelajar.

Lalu apa itu Taptu? Dalam Kamus Besar Bahasa Indonesia (KBBI), taptu /tap·tu/ diartikan dengan tanda (dengan bunyi terompet dan sebagainya). Tanda-tanda ini biasanya terdengar  pada malam hari untuk memanggil prajurit agar pulang ke asramanya. Tanda-tanda itu juga biasanya digunakan sebanyak syarat di dalam baris-berbaris.

Dilansir dari berbagai sumber, menurut bahasa Belanda taptoe diserap dari kependekan “doe de tap toe” yang memiliki makna sebagai menutup keran. Untuk makna ini, yang dimaksudkan adalah keran minuman bir, dan dalam bahasa Inggris disebut tattoo, meskipun dalam bahasa inggris tersebut bermakna ganda, mulai dari pawai genderang dan bisa pula berarti lukisan di kulit.

Taptu dan Pawai Obor dengan tabuhan genderang

Dari berbagai tulisan dan artikel mengenai hal tersebut, tradisi taptu disebutkan bermula sekitar abad ke 17, dimana ketika pukul 21.30, para penabuh genderang militer mulai berkeliling ke jalan-jalan, untuk memperingatkan para pemilik bar agar segera menutup keran minuman bir, disebabkan belum semua orang mempunyai jam sebagai penanda waktu.

Dan pada masa itu penerangan sangat minim sekali dan tidak ada senter (sebuah alat listrik portabel yang merupakan sumber cahaya untuk menerangi dan dioperasikan dengan baterai), karena cahaya listrik mulai dimanfaatkan atau digunakan pada abad 19, sehingga cahaya obor merupakan alternatif penerangan untuk jalan maupun penerangan portable, dan lentera untuk penerangan di dalam ruangan. 

Sehingga ronda atau para militer yang berkeliling memberi peringatan dengan tabuhan genderang dan menggunakan obor sebagai penerangan. Hal tersebut menjadi tanda agar para pemilik bar segera menutup keran bir atau tidak lagi melayani para serdadu.

Sekaligus penanda agar para prajurit atau serdadu yang sedang bersenang-senang di bar-bar yang ada, segera kembali ke barak masing-masing saat mendengar suara peringatan, dan melaksanakan apel malam pada pukul 22.00 sebelum istirahat.

Dari rangkaian kegiatan taptu yang dilaksanakan di Indonesia sendiri, hanya tradisi pawai genderang dan pawai obor yang sebenarnya terserap, tentu saja tanpa maksud yang sama dengan militer Belanda. Karena jelas pada masa perjuangan, para pahlawan kita tidak berada di bar-bar untuk minum dan bersenang-senang, melainkan terus bergerilya, menyusun strategi dan menyimpan tenaga untuk terus mencapai kemerdekaan.

Jika merujuk pada makna pawai genderang dan obor yang sering menjadi rangkaian tradisi kegiatan nasional yang ada di negara kita, kegiatan tersebut tak lain untuk membangkitkan kembali semangat perjuangan masyarakat, semangat Bhineka Tunggal Ika, dan mengenang serta menghormati pengorbanan para pahlawan yang telah berjuang sehingga kita bisa merdeka dari penjajahan.

Oleh karena itu setelah acara taptu atau pawai obor dengan tabuhan genderang marching band, dilanjutkan dengan renungan suci di makam para pahlawan yang telah berjasa besar terhadap kemerdekaan yang kini kita rasakan.

Dan tradisi taptu ini bukan hanya dilaksanakan di Indonesia, ternyata tradisi taptu atau pawai genderang tersebut juga menjadi tradisi memperingati hari-hari besar di negara-negara Eropa, bahkan kini menjelma seperti festival drumband antar negara internasional.

Diantaranya yang begitu dikenal adalah gelar Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo, yang mana diikuti oleh negara Swiss, Belgia, Jerman, Belanda, Norwegia, serta negara lainya. Bahkan di Amerika Serikat Virginia International Tatto di ikuti 850 peserta dari berbagai negara di dunia.[*]
