Penjelasan Rektor USWIM Nabire tentang GERTAK

Rektor Universitas Wiyata Mandala atau USWIM Nabire, Dr. Petrus Izaach Suripatty di ruang kerjanya, Senin (14/08/2023). – Bumiofinavandu.

Nabire, Bumiofinavandu –  Rektor Universitas Wiyata Mandala atau USWIM Nabire, Dr. Petrus Izaach Suripatty, mengatakan, GERTAK merupakan program dari Kampus yang dipimpinnya kepada mahasiswa baru (Maba).

GERTAK, adalah pengganti dari kegiatan Orientasi mahasiswa yang sebelumnya disebut Orientasi Kampus atau Ospek yang dilaksanakan oleh kampus-kampus pada umumnya.

“Di Uswim berganti nama menjadi Gertak. Kalau dulu ada Ospek atau plonco-plonco mahasiswa baru namun di Uswim sudah ditiadakan,” ujar Rektor Suripatty usai pembukaan GERTAK tahun akademik 2023/2024, Senin (14/08/2023).

Dijelaskan, GERTAK bukan dalam arti sebenarnya yakni suara keras atau menakut nakuti, namun kepanjangan dari Gerakan Cinta Kampus sebagai pengganti Ospek. Program tersebut sudah dilaksanakan sejak beberapa tahun belakangan.Artinya, suatu gerakan yang dilakukan kepada mahasiswa baru. Dengan tujuan untuk mengajak dan mengarahkan mahasiswa baru yang akan menempuh pendidikan di Kampus tersebut.

Sehingga mahasiswa diarahkan untuk saling mengenal lingkungan di dalam Kampusnya.  Saling mencintai dan menghargai antar sesama di dalam Kampusnya, baik antar mahasiswa itu sendiri, lingkungan hingga Dosennya.

“Jujur saya sendiri yang menamakan istilah itu, yakni diantara kalian (mahasiswa senior maupun junior), dan sebagainya satu dan lainnya terutama cinta kepada pendidikan. Dengan demikian, akan timbul rasa saling menghargai dan disitulah kamu (mahasiswa) akan berhasil),” jelas Suripatty.

GERTAK sebagai pengganti Ospek kata Suripatty, adalah kegiatan akademik yang digadang-gangan dalam rangka pengenalan kehidupan kampus bagi mahasiswa di USWIM Nabire.

Dengan sasaran yaitu untuk menyiapkan mahasiswa baru, yang siap untuk melewati proses transisi dari seorang siswa (pelajar SMA) menjadi mahasiswa yang dewasa dan mandiri. Dan mempercepat proses adaptasi mahasiswa dengan lingkungan yang baru, yakni dunia kampus.

“Jadi kita siapkan bekal untuk keberhasilannya dalam menempuh pendidikan di Kampus USWIM,” terang Rektor Suripatty.

Terpisah, Lembaga Layanan Pendidikan Tinggi (L2 DIKTI) Wilayah XII, Dr. Suriel S. Mofu, mengapresiasi program GERTAK yang dilaksanakan oleh Kampus USWIM Nabire.

“Saya apresiasi program GERTAK. Sebab program ini satu-satunya yang dilaksanakan oleh UMSIM untuk wilayah di Papua dan Papua Barat,” ungkap Mofu via pesan daring saat kegiatan pembukaan GERTAK.[*]
